My farrier (no he's not perfect - he sometimes vanishes without trace) is fab, he sorts out feet with or without shoes (remedial farriery), is willing to try new ideas, and wins prizes for competitive shoeing. We had ten trimmed at the weekend including a colt who decided he wasnt going to bother thank you and my mare who is currently hunting one day a week without shoes total cost £150, we discuss any issues and if he thinks the level of work/state of foot indicates shoes may be necessary he says so - and because he does both sorts of work I believe him, currently none of my lot do need to be shod. But he wouldnt make up stories - there's no point (other than 'Ive been to stay with my Grandmother' )
